Antonia von Schöning is postdoc researcher and teaches media history and theory at the University of Basel. Her main areas of research include the relationship between media and historiography, image theory, and the relationship between technology and imagination. Her current research project investigates the role of the computer in quantitative historiography in the 20th century. She has published on statistical atlases of Paris, governementality and urban technologies, André Malraux’ image theory, art-historiography in Walid Raad, and she is co-editor of books on visual montage and on the power of things in contemporary media and cultural studies.
